I am a pre-licensed intern pursuing a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Walden University. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from University of Northern Iowa and have had a prior career in Human Resources. But I have always been drawn to healing professions and have worked as a certified massage therapist and a therapeutic yoga instructor in the past. I believe mind-body connection is an important element for overall health.
I am driven by the "whole person" approach which emphasizes the integration of physical, mental and emotional parts of oneself. In my sessions I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental and accepting environment where clients can be themselves and explore thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations. I like to utilize mindfulness and somatic practices, such as breathing exercises, to enhance the overall benefits of therapy. I am a trauma informed intern inspired by Somatic, Narrative, Person-centered and Gestalt approaches to therapy. I view the therapeutic counselor-client relationship as the most important part of counseling, where we come together to explore holistic healing paths to a better way of being, relating, and experiencing everyday living.

Hope is that thing inside us that insists, despite all evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us if we have the courage to reach for it, and to work for it, and to fight for it.
