I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counseling Associate (LCMHCA), a licensed massage therapist and a therapeutic yoga instructor working with clients to help them achieve greater happiness and ease in life. I received a Bachelor’s in Management from University of Northern Iowa and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I believe the mind-body connection is an important element for overall health.
When counseling, I am driven by the "whole person" approach, emphasizing the integration of physical, mental, and emotional parts of oneself. In my sessions I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental, and accepting environment where clients can be free to be themselves and explore thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. I like to utilize mindfulness and somatic practices, such as breathing exercises, to enhance the overall benefits of therapy. I am a trauma-informed professional inspired by Somatic, Narrative, Person-centered, and Humanistic approaches to therapy. I view the therapeutic counselor-client relationship as the most important part of counseling, where we come together to explore healing paths to a better way of being, relating, and experiencing everyday living.
I counsel under the supervision of Taria Bonaparte, MA, LCMHCS. I currently accept Aetna, American Plan Administrators, Blue Cross and Blue Shield (except Blue Home), NC State Health Plan, ChampVA, Cigna, MedCost, Medicaid (Amerihealth, Healthy Blue, United Healthcare Community Plan), Medicare, and Optum/United Healthcare, UMR.
